The Tudor Farmhouse Hotel had a Flash built website and requested that the site be converted to an accessible site in accordance with level 2 (double A) of the WCAG to meet the expectations and requirements of the DDA for service providers. The proprietor requested that the design of the site retain as much of the original layout and colour as possible. The site also had a strong presence on the SERP's and it was essential that this was maintained.
The site was constructed with a lightweight backend content management system allowing Tudor flexibility to manage future changes to the site. A templating system was built on top of this utilising caching packages to ensure content was served rapidly. Emphasis was placed on establishing a solid document structure with out extraneous influence from design constraints. This allowed the content to be made readily accessible and optimised for the Search bots. Various advanced positional CSS techniques were required to fulfill this goal.
